Beatriz Vidal is an Argentinian children's author and illustrator. She was educated at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of Cordoba University. After a 1966 trip to New York City, she studied with the Hungarian artist Ilonka Karasz. Vidal's career as an illustrator began with work to design Unicef cards and record covers, and her illustrations have also appeared in such magazines as Gourmet, Bon Appetite, The New York Times, Woman's Day and The New Yorker. In 1981 she illustrated Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain, which became a PBS Reading Rainbow selection. Vidal has illustrated numerous other children's books, has taught in Cyprus, Mongolia and New York, and has exhibited in Argentina, Italy and the USA. She divides her time between New York, Paris, and Cordoba, Argentina.
