A native Californian with a lively imagination, Kat Sawyer is a passionate storyteller with a goofy sense of humor and an unbreakable connection to her inner kid.
After receiving her BA in theater from UCLA, Kat focused on her acting career, and now boasts over four decades of television, film and voice-over credits.
Sharing her gifts with young people is one of Kat’s greatest joys. She’s been a TV commercial acting coach, a theater mentor for youth in juvenile detention, and is the creator of two awesome scene books for kids and teens.
Always a prolific writer, Kat’s essays have appeared in "Cosmopolitan", "The Artists’ Magazine", "Westways", "The Artists’ Sketchbook", and "Ms Fitness", among others. Her poetry has been featured in the "Suisun Valley Review", "Lummox Anthology", and "Weaving the Terrain: Poetry of the American Southwest". In 2015, her "Voices from the Mat — Yoga Poems and Meditations" was the Grand Prize Winner for Poetry in the Kindle Book Promos Book Contest.
Most recently, "Kika and Sniff", sequel to "The Dogs of Pinyon Glen", received a rave review from the prestigious "Santa Fe New Mexican": “Kat Sawyer’s 'Kika and Sniff: Adventure in the Belowlands' is a trippy, humorous, off-kilter voyage of self-discovery for a heroine who must learn to be brave … A mind-bending children’s adventure tale.”
Now living in New Mexico, Kat shares her life among the pinyon pines with her excellent husband, JP and spirit-dog, Bill.
