Ed Marohn was an executive with Continental AG and Michelin Tire Corporation, both International Fortune 500 companies. Prior to his corporate career, he was a captain in the US Army and served with the 25th Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War, where he commanded a combat unit of 110 men. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, one Air Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, one US Army Vietnam Campaign Medal with two campaigns, the South Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. His other military tours included Germany, Washington, DC, and The Netherlands as NATO Liaison and being the Assistant Professor of Military History at the University of Nevada, Reno. At U of N he earned his MA in Counseling .
After retirement from the corporate world he became a VA volunteer facilitator for military veterans with PTSD because of his combat experience in the Vietnam War. Additionally, he became a Board Member, then eventually Vice Chairman, of the Idaho Humanities Council . Concurrently he served as Board Member of the Idaho Falls City Club. He was also elected to a four year term to the Idaho Falls City Council. He was a Local Columnist for the Idaho Falls Post Register and has had his fiction and non-fiction published in multiple magazines.
With his wife Cathie they often travel and have in recent past visited Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Panama, and Hungary. The most significant trip was his return journey to Vietnam some thirty years after the war, where his novel, Legacy of War, was conceptualized.
He is currently writing a sequel novel.
