Hello. My name is Ali Ray. I write, cook, taste and travel... often in my yellow campervan, called Custard.

I'm curious about connections between place and plate. I write about it in my monthly column Eat Local in the Camping and Caravanning Club Magazine. I also create recipes - lots of al fresco cooking and seafood. You can sometimes find me doing cooking demos at festivals, outdoor trade shows and camping events.

Local food and camping is the subject of my latest book, Pitch Up, Eat Local, published by AA-Publishing mid-2015. I also write for The Guardian Travel and various travel websites.

Word and pictures have always been my thing. I spent 12 years working in factual television production, developing, writing, producing and directing factual series on history, art, business and sex.
