Xavier de Montepin is a popular French novelist. He is buried in old cemetery , 6 th Division, Boulogne-Billancourt in the Hauts-de-Seine beside the grave of his wife Louise and the Lesueur Lesueur Carolina.
Author of soap operas and popular dramas, he distinguished himself in the series. He is the author of one of the bestsellers of 19th century , The Bearer of Bread , published from 1884 to 1889 was successively adjusted to the theater, cinema and television.
The Poor Doctor , published in serial form from January to May 1861 in the illustrated journal The Paris Evenings was a plagiarism of a historical novel by Louis Jousserandot , a Republican lawyer. The trial took place in January 1863. Both complainants were sent back to back and both paid the costs. But the defeat was much side Jousserandot, former Republican outlaw who had little chance of winning against the rich and famous Xavier Montépin,who was adored by the readers and politically close to the imperial power.
Girls Plaster , published in 1855, also won in scandal and Montépin sentenced to three months imprisonment and fined 500 francs in 1856.
