I was born and bred in Zimbabwe, but have lived in the United Kingdom since 2002, and in the North East town of Middlesbrough since 2010. My work has been published in Zimbabwe , South Africa, Jamaica, the UK, the US, Norway and other places. I am bilingual, working with English and Shona, the third most widely spoken Bantu language after KiSwahili and isiZulu, with significant speakers in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. My novel, MunaHacha Maive Nei? is the first science-fiction novel in Shona, and the first to appear as an ebook before going to print. Through the Dread Eye Detective Agency novels, novellas and short-stories, I have helped establish fictional depictions of Rastafarian people.

I trained as a screenwriter, so I am also in the film industry.
