Jennifer K. Reilly

4.1/5 ( ratings)
Jennifer K. Reilly is a dietitian in the Washington, DC, area who is on a mission to make healthy eating hip, simple, fun, and scrumptious. Her passion for healthy plant foods started in high school after being told she’d be grounded if she became a vegetarian, and landed her in the front row of college nutrition lectures shortly after.

Once she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Penn State and a registered dietetic degree from Virginia Tech, she became the managing director of The Cancer Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cancer prevention and survival through nutrition education and research.

While at The Cancer Project, she developed the “Food for Life: Nutrition & Cooking Class Series for Cancer Prevention and Survival,” which focuses on cancer-related nutrition topics and corresponding cooking demonstrations. The “Food for Life” series is now taught in over 30 states nationwide. Jennifer co-authored “The Cancer Survivor’s Guide: Foods that help you fight back!” with Dr. Neal Barnard, and was on the expert panel for the “Healthy Eating for Life” book series focusing on nutrition for cancer, diabetes, children, and women’s health. She has also assisted in writing nutrition textbooks, video scripts, cookbooks, and has developed countless quick and easy healthy recipes.

Jennifer has most recently been providing individual nutrition counseling, teaching group nutrition sessions and cooking classes, and organizing various educational activities at Discovery Communications, Inc. and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and has been blogging on BitchinDietitian.com. She also guest blogs and moderates forums on CrazySexyLife.com, and can be found on Twitter @DCdietitian and Facebook: http://facebook.com/DCdietitian.

When she’s not force-feeding people beans and quinoa, she is chasing after her three young children, vegetable gardening, and playing ultimate frisbee.
