Like many authors Linda found a love of reading early in life. Life has many journeys and Linda was drawn to nursing. Linda watched and listened to the rich fabric of the lives of others, fascinated by their stories from the ordinary to the extraordinary. When her youngest son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, Linda found a focus for her writing. Determined to fight for the spirit and heart of her son, and the chance for a normal life for him she wrote I'm Not Broken, I'm Just Different, Callan the Chameleon and then addressed adult Asperger's in Wings to fly.

Many of Linda's short stories were featured on the ABC TV website, 'The Making of Modern Australia'. Linda gained an avid readership there. She caught the eye of a publisher and 'A Curious & Inelegant Childhood' - a memoir of growing up in rural Australian in the Fifties and Sixties, was the result. Behind Whispering Hands was Linda's debut fiction novella. She has written prolifically on many topics in both fiction and nonfiction, as Linda Ruth Brooks Publishing, she has published several anthologies as with other Australian authors. A fine artist, Linda has also written and illustrated several children's books.
