Alicia VanNoy Call grew up in the desert southwest, surrounded by cactus and summer storms that roll across the valley in late June. She'll tell you she hates Phoenix, but visit in the winter, and you'll see why people live there.

Alicia grew up in a household of readers, and cut her literary teeth on fairy tales and Greek mythology. She has a fondness for both speculative fiction and realistic fiction. Most of her all-time favorite books are on the list because she first read them when she was a kid. You can find books stashed all over her house, in every single room.

She also grew up drawing. A lot. She attended Utah Valley University and graduated in 2013 with a BFA in Illustration cum laude. Her artwork has been featured in The Society of Illustrators, Walter Foster art instruction books, periodicals, and literary journals.

She draws, paints, and writes every day. She likes painting because it lets her listen to shows on Netflix. She should probably listen to audiobooks, but nobody's perfect. Her favorite Netflix binged shows so far have been Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Star Trek: TOS, Sherlock, LOST, The Twilight Zone , Bones, and Supernatural.

Her two short story collections feature tales of speculative fiction, many of them featuring young adults or children. You could say she is in touch with her inner child.

She lives in Arizona with her four kids, various animals, a crapton of books, and way too many art supplies.
