Simon wrote and illustrated his first children's book shortly after leaving education. The book sold 5000 copies in two weeks and was featured as story of the day on BBC's Playdays. He has written the New Forest Friends series, the story part of the PRSIST books about children's cognitive development , and The Rubbish Monster Thing. He is also the author of the Young Adult novel Natural Phenomena, writing as Simon R Chadwick.

Simon has illustrated over 30 children's books plus books on dietary health and animal husbandry, as well as producing ongoing cartoons and illustration for a host of High Street names, major attractions and travel companies.

He runs Ceratopia Books with his wife Josephine.
