An excellent collections of interviews with musicians of various stripes. Courtesy of the literary nerds at Believer.
A book of conversations with various musicians. I would gladly add this book to my permanent collection to dip into from time to time.
This wasn't what I expected but I found this fascinating.This is a collection of interviews with musicians (mainly rock) about how they became successful. The main universal response was believing in their music even when others didn't. They were all quite quirky but I particularly enjoyed the interview Bjork. Even though I am a classical musician their approach is universal and I found certain ideas useful. It also made me feel I am on the right path.
My go-to beach reading for the last 2 summers. Great interviews with some of my favorite musicians--too many to list here. Most of them I already knew and enjoyed the new look but some were new discoveries. If you're into music, you will like this. #thssummershelfie

As you would expect from the quirky Believer magazine, this book contains an eclectic collection of interviewees covering a sometimes unorthodox range of topics. Dave Eggers speaks to Jack White about upholstery, Laurie Anderson discusses wrestling Andy Kaufman and Bjork reveals her love of e.e cummings' poetry. If I have a slight criticism it's that some of the conversations feel quite dated now, topics like the Bush Presidency, Ice Cube's exciting (!) movie career and Pearl Jam's TicketMaster
