Authors included in this collection are adult home residents, fiction writers, peer specialists, wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. A few have remained anonymous, while others have not. Nonetheless, they all have mental illness in common, as well as a desire to share their stories. These authors wanted to share their stories of survival in hopes that others who read this book, or listen to the words aloud in their adult homes, will be inspired by these essays. Although it was a difficult journey, they hope reading how others managed to take control of their illness and lead productive lives will encourage us to press on and seek help for ourselves, or seek to help others. These are the reasons we put this collection together.
