This action-filled, fact-based Civil War novel follows the 25th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment from its formation in September 1862 through the Battle of Tebbs Bend at the Green River Bridge in south central Kentucky on July 4, 1863. Over these 10 months, the 25th moves ever closer to doing battle with the infamous Rebel Raider, John Hunt Morgan. A small detachment of the 25th finally finds itself standing against Morgan-in spite of being heavily outnumbered and outgunned by a seasoned cavalry unit. All the while, Private Christiaan de Goede struggles with the moral ambiguity of a Christian being asked to kill for the Lord. Both conflicts come to a head as the Tebbs Bend battle comes to an end.
