After extensive global motorcycle travel, Nick Gilroy embarks on the road trip of a lifetime. Fuelled by continual wanderlust and attempting to complete an objective set earlier in life, he takes on an ambitious project.
 
His goal is to ride a motorcycle through the 50 states and state capital cities of the USA, in addition to passing through several national parks. Following seasonal weather improvements over a carefully researched route, this mammoth journey starts in February in Florida and after 25 500 miles over 6 months, ends in Alaska. All that remains is a flight to Hawaii to get the 50 in the bag!
 
Throughout the ride, he encounters extremes of weather, roads and traffic congestion, not to mention an incredible sample of Americans. From humid Florida to chilled Utah to cool Alaska. From the open roads of the Great Plains to gridlock of the north east metropolitan areas, from the high desert of Idaho to the challenging and remote Alaska Highway.
 
This is a rollercoaster of a journey for all readers, encompassing a mixture of people, stunning geography, a vibrant blend of Americana and a light sprinkling of history. Nick has converted his journal into a readable story, rich in detail and delivered in a gritty style. Completed in Presidential Election year 2008 this is a great read coinciding with the start of a new Presidential term.
