Authority is God’s good and dangerous gift. Authority is good because when it’s is used well, it leads to flourishing and Christ-likeness. Yet authority is also dangerous because when it’s abused, the character of God himself is obscured, and people are left broken and hurt, wondering what went wrong and why they trusted their boss, their spouse, their pastor.

In this 9Marks Journal, we have a burden to restore to Christians a proper perspective of authority. We seek to do this by both highlighting God’s intention for authority primarily in the local church, while also exploring the roots of its abuse.
