Well worth the $10 I paid for it. There's a photo for every perfume bottle, and since it's from 2002, they are all older perfumes that made me really take my time with the book to get to know them. It's nice while reading it to have a computer nearby so you can look up/research the perfumes in here. It has made my love and appreciation for perfume and perfumers grow. The perfumes are broken up into categories, like floral, chypres, orientals, etc...and then further broken down into those categor...
This is an excellent book for someone interested in perfumes but not really too knowledgeable about notes, scent families, etc. Susan Irvine gives an excellent overview of the main scent families, modern and classic examples of each, as well as some history on the house, the perfumer, and sometimes the bottle of each scent. She gives the notes, top, bottom, and base so a person can begin to learn about them.
