Unwanted By A Lord Of London: An Arranged Marriage Historical Romance + Bonus Books

Lady Helen Blackwood

Daughter of a wealthy landowner who is very involved in recent politics and the Methodist church, has grown up slowly with her brother and sister just outside of London. She is beautiful and moral, attending the Methodist church, a growing church even as the Church of England is fighting for them not to exist. She is of marrying age and has had her eyes on a man for some time, though she is too shy to ever speak to him.

At a ball her father held, her father had the two dance with each other and eventually arranged a marriage. She is head over heels, but she realizes that while he is not a super greedy man, that he needed the dowry she could offer and may not be anything beyond slightly polite and attracted to her. She means to change that.

James Blackwood

James is quite a figure in London, writing for The Times, especially writing about current religious and political issues. Like many forward-thinking Methodists at the time, he is a libertarian. He came from a banking family, but his father was not happy with his son not growing out of his rebellious phase against the church. Being disinherited, he finds himself living in church parishes where people let him stay and knows that an advantageous marriage is the only thing that will save him.

Lord George Nelson knows of his plight and offers him a deal one day after church. He will give him his daughter to marry and her large dowry as long as James keeps up his political work and supports George in all his endeavors. He feels he has no choice to accept, and he knows that Helen will be happy with the arrangement.
