New Media Art 2015

New Media Art 2015

Leejin Kim
0/5 ( ratings)
New media art utilizes new media technology to create art. As the term “new” in new media art indicates how such art changes relatively with “newness,” new media art has constantly incorporated technologies considered “new” at the moment. The reason that new media artists are interested in new media technology is that contemporary artists look for their materials and subject matters in their daily lives, and they use these to express their realities. New media technologies are not only tools for work, but they also contain crucial features that may subvert philosophical concepts of “Art” and artworks. In addition, new media, including video, social media, the Internet, and smartphones, have become essential tools for communication these days, and have opened up new possibilities for communication between artists and the audience. “New Media Art 2015: Across Voices” was published in conjunction with the exhibition “New Media Art 2015: Across Voices – 속삭임,” organized by Leejin Kim, an art director at CICA Musuem, Gimpo, Korea, March 21 – June 21, 2015. This book features works and truthful voices of new media artists in the United States and Matt Kenyon, Heidi Kumao, Sarah Nesbitt, Norbeto Gomez Jr., Justin Lincoln, LaTurbo Avedon, Jeong-ju Jung, Byeongwon Ha, Junsung Kim, Sin ifie, and Leejin Kim. By displaying their works and thoughts, we would like to highlight a cross section of New Media Art in 2015. Features Matt Kenyon, Heidi Kumao, Sarah Nesbitt Norbeto, Gomez Jr. Justin Lincoln, LaTurbo Avedon, Jeong-ju Jung, Byeongwon Ha, Junsung Kim, Sin ifie, and Leejin Kim. Written in English and Korean.
