Cuadros de Mi Vida is a collection of 12 short stories mostly set in East Los Angeles that tell the author's prior decade navigating traumatic life events coupled with mental illness. The stories written in the book are prefaced by Mexican Loteria cards to establish the theme of what's discussed in each story. The intention of this book is to raise awareness and discourse in the Latino community regarding mental illness and hopefully destigmatizing it a bit. This collection of short stories is also meant to candidly display intersectional issues pertaining to gender, class, race, and disability.
