G. Henry Hofer
0/5 ( ratings)
The Trip of a LifetimeAs if entering a new career or losing a husband of twenty-five years weren't enough, Gretchen Goodridge, the heroine of Exit Gretchen, the second volume in G. Henry Hofer's trilogy, The Sunhorses of Time, must face the challenge of a lifetime: to begin her life again as a new person. After her husband leaves her, Gretchen volunteers in the acquisitions department of the Getty Center in Los Angeles. She hopes for a change of pace and to move on with her life, and expects to be pleasantly distracted by her new job, but when the museum sends her on a trip around the globe to purchase a stolen painting, she encounters international intrigue, friendship, adventure, and romance. She meets an older woman with a degenerative and fatal disease whom she befriends and cares for and travels with to Bali; after what some may call a supernatural experience, Gretchen removes herself from a plane that eventually crashes; a mysterious stranger follows Gretchen from Indonesia, to Singapore, and finally Australia, where it become clear that his intentions are not only honorable but amorous. Exit Gretchen is the second novel in a trilogy about the Frazer family and their international adventures. With insight into the world of international politics, art, travel, and society, Exit Gretchen involves us in its world and the characters that inhabit it. Gretchen Goodridge, with the remarkable choices she's forced to make as her life changes around her, reminds us that our world is unpredictable, and that that is not all bad. Author Bio: G. Henry Hofer grew up in Danzig, Germany, studied medicine in Basel, Switzerland, and served with the British Zone authorities in Hannover, Germany, after World War II. He then moved to Canada and took a business degree at the University of Toronto. Later he immigrated to the United States and now lives with his wife in Southern California near their three sons.
