The Cross of Christ: redeemed reality

The Cross of Christ: redeemed reality

Thomas May
0/5 ( ratings)
Let's wander the path of the journey of our faith together. Along the way, let's think about the cross of Christ. What lessons and images does God want to teach us about Himself and His ways through this ancient symbol of death. Our theology - what we believe about God - is so important in our lives. The things that we really understand help us determine right from wrong. The things that we are not so sure about become the heart of things we tolerate or overlook. The things we don't understand at all become opportunities for compromise and sin.

So where do we start in understanding God? His omniscience - that God is all knowing? His omnipresence - that God is everywhere? His omnipotence - that He is all powerful? His eternal nature? His justice? His love? His grace?

Paul starts with His cross.

No one in Paul's day used the cross as a symbol of their faith. There were no golden necklaces, no church buildings, and no steeples with a huge cross on the outside. The cross was simply God's scandal, His contradiction to the way we usually determine wisdom and power. It was His explanation of what makes a kingdom great, His display of what love is all about, and His statement of how salvation needed to be secured.

Studying together, we can determine that the old rugged cross really can make a difference in your life.
