Missions From The Dead

Missions From The Dead

Robert Alexander
3/5 ( ratings)
The morning was a sweet, blissful thing. Robert awoke to curtains of sun streaming into the bedroom, coating the white bed in gold. He turned to see Melinda still asleep, her eyelashes fluttering with dreams. He watched her for a long, peaceful moment, enjoying how her lips were curved into a soft smile. Her stomach was plump, and Robert let a swell of happiness take over when he thought of the little girl that would be in their lives in just a few days.

This was the first time in weeks that Melinda was getting perfect rest, so he left her draped in the covers and went to the kitchen. Jolleen and Amie were getting ready for school – it was a half-day for their book fair.

“Good morning!” Jolleen said cheerfully, making hers and Amie’s lunches. Amie sat at the counter.

“I saw that,” Robert told her, pulling up her arm to look at the paper she’d tried to hide at the last minute. Amie gave him a devious look. “I told you, you have to stop doing your homework last minute!”
