Slavery, The 1776 Report and American Education: A Teaching and Learning Resource

Slavery, The 1776 Report and American Education: A Teaching and Learning Resource

Ray Moore M.A.
0/5 ( ratings)
Slavery, The 1776 Project and American A Teaching and Learning Resource deals with Slavery, its impact upon America, and specifically how issues of race in America should be dealt with in the classroom. It is the result of six months of intensive study and writing following the release of The 1776 Report in January 2021 which was itself a response to The 1619 Project.

As an immigrant with a keen interest in American History, I offer a perspective of someone who can look at events as an outsider. Rather than someone who has been educated in the American education system. The book is for educational administrators , teachers, students - anyone who wants to learn about this topic and to learn HOW to learn about it. Although the book is intended as a primer for the study of slavery and related issues and not primarily as a classroom resource, certain parts of it could easily be adapted for use in class particularly the Slavery Quiz and the Guiding Questions on The 1776 Report itself. The work is divided into A multiple-choice Quiz of 28 questions about Slavery - with the answers; A glossary of terms that gives a mini-essay on the vocabulary used to talk about slavery and racism; A history of slavery in America which places it in its global and historical context; A guide to the arguments often used to defend slavery in America; A study guide to The 1776 Project which includes guiding questions and a detailed commentary; Some personal reflections on the topic; A guide to common fallacious arguments.
