Blackstone's Civil Practice 2003

Blackstone's Civil Practice 2002 is the third annual edition of a new practitioners' reference guide to the practice of civil litigation in England and Wales. The 2002 edition is the first to be published by Oxford University Press. The 2002 edition will be up to date to mid December 2001. Some changes in civil procedure have already been announced to take place during 2002: - new enforcement procedures in Parts 70 to 73 of the Civil Procedure Rules, - new EC Regulation on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters. Blackstone's Civil Practice 2002 deals with the law in these areas both as it is now and as it will be after these new provisions come into force. Blackstone's Civil Practice is a subject-focused book. It sets out the law on civil procedure in 78 chapters which follow the course of proceedings from pre-action protocols to enforcement of judgments. These chapters are backed up by appendices containing a scrupulously edited complete text of the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions and selected legislation relating to civil procedure and jurisdiction. The treatment of the litigation process in general is followed by 20 chapters on important topics of civil law encountered particularly in the day-to-day work of the county courts: insolvency and companies; landlord and tenant and possession proceedings; harassment; sale of goods and consumer credit. Chapter 99 discusses human rights and civil procedure. Chapter 100 is a reference summary of changes in terminology brought about by the Civil Procedure Rules. All copies of Blackstone's Civil Practice 2002 come complete with a CD-ROM, which is issued simultaneously with the bound book. The CD-ROM includes hypertext linking for, among other things, references to the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions. The CD-ROM also includes all relevant forms. The supplement, included in this set, brings the Main Volume up to date to 30 July 2002. The supplement deals with all relevant cases reported since publication of the 2002 edition. Cases concerning service, the new costs provisions and appeal procedures have been particularly significant, but all areas of civil practice have been affected. The supplement updates the legislative texts in the appendices to the 2002 edition. New Parts 64, 68, 69, 74 and 75 of the Civil Procedure Rules were published on 13 August and are included in the supplement. There are also many detailed amendments to the existing Parts, including new rules on interim possession orders. The Supplement also provides the text of the new court guides for the Admiralty and Commercial Courts and the Patents Court.
