Too dark. Too quiet. Everything wrong.This one grabbed me right by the nose hairs and would not let go. What you have here is a helluva of a thriller. Is it particularly believable? Maybe not. Did I care? Nope. The world has gone completely crazy. Cities are burning, people are being shot en masse. There's nowhere to go, but you can't stay where you are. Get food, water, gas . . . and RUN!Not sold on the ending, but the ride getting there was a real trip.

Oh my, what a ride! Man, can Crouch write intense thrillers. Okay, I'm sure some would say you need to suspend disbelief on some things, but I read this for what it was...an unbelievable action-packed survival story. SO good, loved it!
The premise of Run is a family flees their home when an outbreak of violence begins in certain areas of the States. I loved the outbreak idea! It's not a virus or biological agent turning people into shuffling zombies or rage monsters. The infected are exactly the same as they were before (they drive, walk and talk the same. I have seen lots of good reviews and lots of bad reviews for this one. Many people have a problem with Crouch's stilted half sentences. I take it for what it is, just the author's style. With that being said, this was one of my favorite books of the past five years. The plot is unlike anything else I've ever read. Crouch is brutal and unapologetic in this book. In Crouch We Trust. Excellent story. And I think he should change his first name from Blake to Bleak. This was an absolutely relentless roller coaster ride! Also ... one of the most satisfying final sentences I’ve read in a book in years.
