Black Eye #1 and #2 are black humor anthologies, focusing primarily on cartoons to tell morbidly funny stories. As an opening line to a one-pager by R. Crumb (not here) might put it, "You might not think it's funny . . . but I have a sick sense of humor!" (This said while drawing a picture of a little girl in front of him being run over by a bus.) I thought the essays were a bit tedious and I wish there were more female contributors. There are some great comics collected here, by amazing artists--but I think actually my favorite part is the little faux-advertisements sprinkled throughout.
