Done. (Did not get past 25 pages).
Saw the film first and loved it which did not diminish at all the pleasure of the read. Great language, humor, perceptions.
One of the best books I have read in the past 12 months. Both thought provoking and amusing.
Have a dictionary handy! There is SO much art, music, and philosophy crammed into this book. The comparisons to one another are mind-blowing. I loved the main character.
I have never looked up so many words in a book, even in a dozen books! So thankful for Nook's look-up function, I even looked up some just to make sure I understood their use. I guess that's what happens when you read a book about a Paris concierge who is a closet intellectual and an almost-teenager who is hiding her brilliance. A wonderful coming-of-age book about a 54-year old who learns to accept herself. Well worth the time to look up all those words!
I found the first third of the book work to read. After that I was invested and enjoyed it.
