While I really liked the stories contained herein, the thing that killed it for me was all the advertising. I had to skip by so many "buy my book" sections and excerpts that I found it annoying. It's actually quite a slim read, when it comes to complete stories. I have no problem with an excerpt here and there from an author I love, but more than half of this book is excerpts, advertisements, and testimonials for other books.
This is an anthology of short stories and excerpts from novels. Like any anthology, it is a mixed bag. There are some good stories and some yawners. Two of the excerpts in the book did prompt me to buy the full books.A quote from one of the stories (Wooden Horse by John Grant) : "Sometimes I catch myself thinking that each of us should be given more than one life - not sequentially, but in parallel, so we could pursue several lifetimes simultaneously."
A great collection of stories and samples, and a great advert for the publisher Infinity Plus. I already knew one story in it (by the very talented writer Iain Rowan) but stories by Keith Brooke, John Grant and Eric Brown equally impressive. And all this for free too! Recommended.
