Babe Ruth was wild, little boy who loved baseball and causing problems. He lived in a rough neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland. His family of eight people was poor and dirty. As a kid, Babe grew up as a reckless kid who did anything he wanted. When he was 7 years old, his parents put him in a St. Mary's industrial school for boys who were troublemakers, runaways, and orphans. At his new school and home, he learned math, reading and got to play baseball in his free time. Then, he met Brother Mat...
Well. What can you expect. This book is about one the best baseball players in the world, Babe Ruth. It follows since childhood to adulthood. One of the things that surprise is that he died because he had throat cancer. Overall this is a great book and I recommend it to anybody who likes sports.
I thought it told a lot about babe Ruth and how what school he went to and the tricks he did to become a better baseball player.
I read this book because when I saw it it was about baseball and I play baseball. It is my favorite sport so I wanted to read it. The book is called Babe Ruth saves baseball. The main character is George Herman Ruth. The story is about a baseball player named George Herman Ruth and he likes baseball a lot. It is his favorite sport, at first he was not very good but with time, while he was practicing, he became famous. He played with the Yankees, met people, etc. In this book I learned about the

Who was Babe Ruth by Joan Hulb. This book is about a legendary baseball player named Babe Ruth, Babe was a baseball legend in the 1920s-1930s he broke every batting record that existed he was a inspiring player to watch in that time. But what is his story?Babe Ruth in my opinion is one of the best baseball players of all time he could hit pitch and run bases. With a legend in the making who knew Babe was going to grow up and become the greatest baseball player of all time.I recommend this book t...
I love these series as they are quick reads but packed with interesting information. You realize Babe Ruth was quite the character after reading this book. You also realize though that he was full of compassion and had a very big heart. Some interesting facts include: Babe was sent away to a reform school when he was only 7 because his parents had so much trouble controlling him! There were 8 children in Babe's family. He was the oldest. However, only Babe and Mamie, his little sister, made it t...
Sounds like an amazing guy!
Read to my son for school, decent. Most of the Who Was books give a round picture of the person..I felt this was way more centered on his baseball career and would've liked to know more about him personally. Overall, not bad.
I liked this book because it was a page turner. I think this book would be perfect for ages 6 and up. If you like who was roger maris you will like this one. This book gives great facts
I really liked this book and I learned many things I never knew about Babe Ruth.
In the book,”Who was Babe Ruth,”. Babe came from a quite poor family. During his childhood,he went through a lot such as his mother dying and him going to St. Mary’s Industrial School. He also gains interest in baseball (which becomes his future career). He began to play baseball while at St. Mary’s and his journey started from there. He had some nicknames while he played baseball such as “Sultan of Swat”, “the King of Crash”, “the Prince of Pounders” and lastly “the Colossus of Clout”. These ni...

This book is about a man who got into a lot of trouble (as a boy and in adult hood), played practical jokes on his friends, but he was a baseball king. People already know that he played for the New York Yankees but would it shock you if I told you he got traded from the Boston Red Sox because he was not doing good? Well you got to read it if you want to find out. But I highly recommend this book to kids 7+ but this book was really interesting.
Who was Babe Ruth is a book about the telling of Babe Ruths life. Babe Ruth was a very big trouble maker, his was so bad that he got sent off to boarding school. In boarding school he got better and better at baseball and he got called up to the minors, about a couple years later he got called up to pay with the red Sox and got traded from there on. I would recommend this book to people who are in to baseball.
I really enjoyed this biography for young readers. Babe Ruth has always been a bigger-than-life baseball player for me - one that stood above all the early pros in the major leagues. This concise biography filled in many gaps in my understanding of who he was and provided a revealing backdrop of his childhood and young life. From a poor family in the dirty part of Baltimore to a reform school, George Herman Ruth looked destined for disaster, but a teacher at the school, Brother Mathias, provided...
"Who Was" is a great series for younger students who like non-fiction. In the past, younger students who liked to read nonfiction were often faced with reading books that were far above their reading level. "Who Was" fills that void by putting out accessible and interesting books for emergent readers. Although non-fiction, the books read more like a story, which also adds to their appeal. "Who Was Babe Ruth" is a great read for young baseball fans: they get all the facts of his personal struggle...
105 pages. I enjoyed this book and learned a lot about this baseball legend. What I really was impressed with was that the author was very objective. She told the good and the bad. She did not make him out to be a saint. He had faults and they caught up with him at times and affected his career and personal life, including his marriage. I think that balance is good in biographies. Kids need to know people are not perfect. People can still inspire us to greatness even with flaws. I think kids wil...
All I can say is: What a troublemaker he is!!!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(
Babe Ruth was not always an idol. He grew up in a poor family and definitely gave them a run for their money. This biography takes you threw Babe Ruth's life from birth to death, and all of his challenges and accomplishes in between. All of the books in this series provide a great simplistic approach to informational text. A perfect fit for young readers or struggling readers. I am currently using this with my 4th graders to explore biographies and how to dissect the information. I love the time...
