Epoch was FANTASTIC! Though the ending feels like it leads into Legion, more than Roadtrip but oh well.
Stories 1-2
I miss the old cover art :( Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Lisa Bowerman and her lovely face, but I loved the "artsy" covers.Oh well. As long as the new audios keep coming, I can deal with it ;)
All in all, a fun first jump into the Bernice Summerfield audios for me!The first and second chapters are pretty slow, the third one really gets things moving and the fourth was definitely my favourite of the set, tidying up the mystery that’s been building for the previous stories and segueing nicely into the start of the Legion arc. This boxset has to essentially re-establish the character of Benny for new listeners, and throughout the four stories that compose it, we’re teased with bits of ov...
Relisten...I forgot how wild this boxset was and just how wibbly, wobbly, amnesia and fun these stories are. They're very camp and enjoyable and I love Brax's appearance at the end.
The Kracken's lament was ok but not really that great for a Benny story. She seemed just a bit too submissive and quiet. Not to mention that her swearing was wrong, Benny always swears by the Goddess not a god! Calmly making breakfast for a man and then all sad that he wouldn't come with her? I was quite disappointed how little of the story got resolved but I'm guessing that will happen in the rest of the box set. Temple of questions Now this is much more like it! Benny all funny and flirty and
I'm listening to these all out of order, but I'm really loving them. The thing I love most about Benny Summerfield is that when she rages at God, she doesn't cry out 'Why!?!' she yells, 'I've figured you out. You're talking out of your ass! You keep saying that if I submit I can be saved, but I know you're lying. You're just as helpless as me.' And that's really something that I love so much about these stories.
We have now gone from the single adventures to the Box sets. Which means there are 4. We start by dealing with the whole year zero business. Benny first is in Atlantis dealing with stories coming back to life. This was a rather dull story. The next has to do with stopping a god from destroying the world. So Benny. The third is trying to stop the the Epoch from rewriting the world the way they want it. The last one Benny finally fights the Epoch to try to get back to Peter and the future. Good bo...
I really loved this. This was my first full introduction to Bernice Summerfield, and though the stories made reference to things that had previously occurred, it was not vital to know to what she was referring in order to enjoy what was happening. Funny, mysterious, good characters. I'll definitely check out more things featuring her.
