The Penguin Book of Modern Canadian Short Stories

The Penguin Book of Modern Canadian Short Stories

Wayne Grady
0/5 ( ratings)
This anthology is presented as a companion to the highly acclaimed Penguin Book of Canadian Short Stories, and focuses on the period from early 1960s to the present, two vital decades in the development of Canada’s most important literary genre.

The twenty-four stories have been carefully selected from both published and unpublished material to reflect the broad diversity of the modern Canadian short story, as well as to provide an overview of its dominant and recurring themes. Stories by such major authors as Alice Munro, Brian Moore, Margaret Atwood, Norman Levine, Elizabeth Spencer, and Margaret Laurence are included as well as representative stories by Seán Virgo, W.D. Valgardson, Matt Cohen and W.P. Kinsella. French-Canadian short fiction is represented by Anne Hébert, Gabrielle Roy, Gérard Bessette, and Jacques Ferron.
