For my money, Glimmer Train Stories always has something to offer, and issue #81 is no exception to the rule. There were a number of memorable short stories in this anthology, most notable for me, Roadrunner by Katherine Young, but also including, Man in the Elevator by Joy Wood; The Corn God by Paul Rawlins; The Piper by Sean Padraic McCarthy; and, In a Library, in Saltillo by Lydia Fitzpatrick.
Boooooorrriiiiing. Glimmer Train stories are all of a certain type. There's not much diversity involved, which leads to a lot of prairie type stories, and they're all pretty lackluster. Not a great batch of short stories.
A collection of contemporary short stories published in the Winter 2012 edition of Glimmer Train.Glimmer Train is published quarterly. My favorite story in this collection is "The Corn God" by Paul Rawlins, an author to watch.
