Mark is fabulous and I love him. It's so lovely to see someone fall in love with a series I so deeply adore.
It is an absolute joy to see someone experience Harry Potter for the first time and watch them slowly fall in love. This is probably the closest I will come to reading Harry Potter for the first time again sigh. The author is also totally hilarious.
Oh Mark your unpreparedness for everything is my favorite and your brain is such a weird but wonderful place and I am very happy you share with us.
This was hilarious. I loved watching a grow man slowly deteriorate into squealing fanboy-dom. I love introducing things I love to other people and watching them enjoy them too. So I really loved watching Mark enjoy this book. He made me think of things and notice things I hadn't before. And he made me laugh a lot. So win-win!Technically though, I haven't read this full book. I read the blogs online but the book has a lot of new features. So I'll have to pick it up and read it too.
I was reading Mark's stuff back when I was a teenager and he was still on Buzzfeed. It's just so fun to watch someone get introduced to things you already love (or hate) and react to them honestly and openly. Sometimes the fun is seeing him figure out the twists and turns; sometimes it's hearing a different perspective on something you've become somewhat "set in your ways" on.Anyway, this was definitely worth the $4. I already read the first read-through online when it was first being posted, bu...
Cool super coolHi
I always enjoy reading Mark's impressions of my favourite books. :)
I am a total Mark Oshiro fangirl. No, wait. I can do that better ...This is SO EXCITING. No, really. I mean, I can download Mark Reads off the Internet RIGHT ONTO MY IPAD and read him EVERYWHERE I GO! It's like a purseful of puppies AND PUPPY TREATS!! If you love reading, passionately, and you don't read Mark Reads, you are doing it wrong.
Go back in time....way back and remember the first time you read Harry Potter. How this simple children's book sucked you into Hogwarts, made you fall in love with Harry, Ron and Hermione and how you hated Snape. Reading "Mark Reads Harry Potter" is as close as you will ever get to experiencing that all over again. (And the 'Mark re-reads' section, with the benefit of hindsight, reinforces how clever and skilled JK Rowling was even in this slimmest of novels, sowing the characters, themes and pl...
I love Harry Potter. I always recommend it to friends, and seeing them discover these books and its mysteries is such a wonderful thing to me, that is exactly why I loved Mark Reads HP+SS so much. He knew very little about the Potter universe and got sucked in just liked the rest of us. Reading his recaps, seeing him unfold the story, was just unbelievably funny and heart-warming to me. I cannot wait for Chamber of Secrets.
I'm a big fan of Mark Reads (NSFW: language). Mark Oshiro reads books he's never read before, mostly SF&F. He goes chapter by chapter and posts reviews that combine critical analysis with keysmashing, all caps, and "emotional breakdowns". It's fantastic and one of my favorite things on the Internet. It all began with Mark Reads: Twilight. As entertaining as his reviews were to read, for Mark it was basically a slow and painful descent into madness. Once the project was complete a friend of his su...
This is a great trip down memory lane. Seeing someone's first impressions of a story you feel very familiar with is a fun experience, and a lot of Mark's projects have opened my eyes to new facets and interpretations of works I've loved for years. Also, the fact that he went back and re-read the books afterward and added his post-spoiler notes for each chapter is really delightful. I had read the first impression posts before when I first discovered the Mark Does Stuff community, but I hadn't se...
