In many ways, theological schools reflect the climate of the ecology in which they grow. Theological schools exist to serve the church, and the church in North America is changing rapidly and significantly. Leaders struggle to understand the direction and impact of the changes they experience constantly in congregations and denominational offices. In addition, the work of theological schools is largely patterned after higher education, an industry in the midst of unprecedented change.
This issue of Theological Education identifies and analyzes some of the challenges facing theological schools and offers some examples of substantive engagement with the challenges in particular settings.
