The report on extensive excavations at a site in Middlewich, Cheshire which took place in 2001-2. The excavations uncovered Roman cilian settlement dating from the first to the fourth centuries AD. Evidence for industry at the site included iron, lead and leather working. Evidence for domestic activity was also abundant including tableware and a cauldron and chain. It is posited that Middlewich formed a centre for the supply of the army.
