Carmen Bellaire
0/5 ( ratings)
Persephone's Tale is the story of a thirteen year old orphan lost in an uncaring world. Life without her parents is unbearable, with poetry being her only relief. Her days are filled with drudgery, daily chores and the abuse of her step-mother and siblings. But all that changes when the stone gargoyle at the end of their driveway comes to life and whisks Persephone off to an enchanted land of elves, dwarves and dragons. In this fantasy world Persephone finds that her verses are magical and all she must do to cast a spell is to speak a short poem. But all is not well in Azaroth, an usurper has taken the throne and commands the land with host of evil lieutenants and a vast army of twisted, wolf-like beasts called worgs. Persephone must quest through these strange lands to the Queen's Isle to confront Orion and free the kingdom from his wicked control. Along the way she meets a host of unusual characters; Goyle her gargoyle familiar, the White Knight, Leto a vegetarian manticore, Ick, Uck and Eek three ogres, each one uglier than the last and the lich lord Cadaverous, among many others. Persephone must find the courage within herself to overcome the trials set against her and to defeat the forces of evil. Along the way she discovers the values of love, life, friendship and family, and the burdens of leadership and command.
