Simply outstanding. A few aspects of this were a bit... far-fetched, too wild to be true even in a sci-fi story, but it still did not make me enjoy it any less. In fact, a small measure of that from time to time is not bad.It is hard not to be inspired by this story, even if it's fiction. You barely need a few pages to grow attached to the main character, you soon want him to succeed and learn and help him achieve his dreams that start out small but become as big as the universe. Short story about a new sun being built in the sky to help improve the climate in the north of China. It was just empty. I would have preferred a short note explaining the idea rather than bother writing a whole story about it. Then Stephen Hawkings shows us and its completely gone
Hermoso cuento que es más que ciencia ficción, es un relato oda a la humildad y esperanza de la clase más baja de la humanidad: gente sin estudios que migran de su pueblo natal para una esperanza de un futuro, sea cual sea. Creo que no pude sentir todo lo que el autor intentaba decirme porque es chino y mucho de sus emociones radica en lo que significa tener los problemas de ese país. Pero sin duda con lo poco que se puede entender y sentir, es conmovedor y su mensaje de esperanza es hermoso.
A warm, inspiring and a bit sentimental, but otherwise unimpressive very soft sci-fi short story about a single Chinese peasant's unexpected rise towards being the interstellar traveler. Not a typical work of Liu Cixin, though it's not bad, but I've expected quite a different type of story and genre here.
Though I have read it more than once in the past decade, re-reading it in English I can still find the thrill in it. Layer by layer the story evolves from an insignificant wish of a peasant boy to the extent no human has ever anticipated...This is the first SF I introduced to my son when he was 9 years old.

Liu Cixin’s Sun of China gripped me instantly, and I was hugely invested in the way the story played out. There was a lot of development throughout, more than I’d expected, and I was remained constantly interested in how the pieces would come together.Although a bit different to the author’s norm, this one has plenty to keep the reader engaged throughout.
Rated 2 because 2.5 is not available. Not a typical Cixin book- the plot is nothing special. The writing/translation is good, however, as a science fiction, I found it disappointing.
I really enjoyed how this story developed and the journey of the main characters. Little people can do big things too! It would be sad to see your life’s work become obsolete, but what a way to go out in the end. =)
This was probably the best short story in The Wandering Earth collection. It had a decent character (at least in terms of the character work within the series) who we got to see grow over the course of the mostly well-written chapters that constituted various periods of his life. The build-up from poor farmer boy to where he eventually ended up was far-fetched, but plausible within the context of the story. And there was an attempt at a story this time as well, albeit one where every major event...
I loved it. Also, that one didn't give me nightmare, so either you can say that's nice or you can say, not that ground-breaking, though it is.
This story has a likable main character.This story seems to celebrate the working class as the industrialization of space was made successful in part because of the common, uneducated folk.
A tale of a rural migrant's small dreams that grow slowly larger and reach the stars. Almost a socialist science fiction tale. Loved it.
A short and nice story. You can expect the same usual high quality from Liu.

Interesting SciFi novel. China's future seen by a Chinese novelist appears to carry a lot about the actual chinese way of living and fantasies. This novel is interesting to read in that regard.
