Jeremy could tell from his brief glimpse that something was wrong with the man’s outline. He held his breath and waited for another stroke of lightning. It came a few seconds later. What he saw stole his breath away. The figure was closer, almost in the yard now, and he could see that it was missing one of its arms below the elbow. Denuded bone glimmered white in the electric light. There were forty or so more gathered in the street behind the zombie, all converging on the house.
