I really love Clark's older books, which were suspenseful psychological thrillers. I also like the fact that her murderers are always people with deep psychological disorders. Her later books concentrated on normal people but that didn't work for me.In this book is a creepy serial killer, who meets women through personal ads kills them and puts dancing shoes on their feet before abandoning them where they could be found. A man who starts this spree when a woman rejects him, a very entitled man.

This is one of the creepier books that I have read. I picked it up off a pile of books my grandmother was giving to us and low-and-behold was this catching, poetic title. It was too disturbing the first time I tried so I put it on my shelf and waited about a year. After all that time It still was bugging me that I didn't know what was to happen. When I was in middle school, Mary Higgins Clark was my favorite author besides, perhaps, K. A. Applegate. Really enjoyed this novel. Mary Higgins Clark's story about the Slipper Killer was exciting, at times eerie and scary! The character Darcy was strong and determined and added so much to the plot of the book.I never guessed the killer, so was astounded to discover who it was, especially as there were a few possibles!

Wow! what an awesome book. read the whole thing in a day and a half. This book is intense for beginning to ende. Just when you think you have it figured out, another character or angle comes into play. My heart was actually pounding in my chest at one point(ok, at a few points) Readers of this genre like to be kept on edge and Clark does not disappoint. Highly recommend to all suspense lovers.
