The series has definitely improved with every volume, but it sort of continues to be embarrassingly similar to Lost in its pacing and construction. Also my liver would not survive a drinking game that involved taking a sip every time someone asks "but what does it MEAN!" and someone else answers "there's no time to explain!"That shit gets old REALLY FAST.But it was pretty neat to see the way some things had been set up since the first volume, though annoying to see the ways in which other things...
What the hell is going on? Seriously, by the end of Volume 3, I thought I had an understanding as to what was going on, but this volume just completely fucked all my theories about what was going on, and now I'm back to square one.And I'm annoyed by that. The writing/story/plot:Nick Spencer has done a crazy good job at keeping the mystery going with TRUANTS. And, while I'm irritated that I have no idea what is going on, and that nothing has been answered, and I now have even more questions about
Volume 4 of Morning Glories continues with what seems to be the series' ongoing theme of "We ain't tellin' you shit."Okay, that is not 100% true. We do get a few answers, of sorts, in this volume (hint: time travel), but as has been the case in previous volumes, every "answer" adds three more questions. So we get a few more clues about the founding of the academy and what was going on in some scenes in earlier issues, but we are still way down the Lost rabbit hole, and I'm still not convinced th...
It says in the blurb that the Glories find themselves lost in time and space, so I don't think it's a spoiler for me to say that this volume is all about time-travel.I'm still enjoying the story, even with the horrible Lost vibe that's running rampant throughout the storyline. And I'm not saying that Lost had a bad vibe - at least for the first few seasons. But nobody wants a repeat of the long, drawn out, non-answerish finale...10 bjillion seasons later. Sadly, from what my friends have told me...
4 books in and I'm still confused about the setting and what exactly is going on. The obvious assumption is the cast of children are all attending a preparation school in hell. The writing is sharp enough to keep me interested, but the cast keeps getting bigger and bigger and, while the artist has done a fine job, some characters look too similar to another and the motivations are complicated enough for most readers to keep things straight. For the newly initiated I guess the concept of the seri...
About 60% of the way into this volume, I just gave up. This series is too convoluted and I am not someone who can just "go with it" for FOUR VOLUMES of no (or very little) actual resolution. Also, some of the characters look the same to me. So, in a nutshell, I'm done with this series because it is no fun for me to read and makes me feel like a complete idiot. Peace out.
Four volumes in and I have more questions than answers. And there were so many time jumps that it's hard to even understand what is going on half the time. I think my journey with this series is over for now. The more I read of it, the more confused and annoyed I grow.
I understand less and less of this comic with every new volume I read. Love it!
I enjoyed the first 3 volumes of this well enough, but it's gotten to the point were I literally have no clue as to what's going on. There's too much time jumping between the same and different characters. It's very difficult to follow. I think I'm now done with Morning Glories.
Well.........^^^----Is how I felt while I read the end of series 1. We really don't get many answers and this IS the final for series one!!!! It's beyond frustrating to really not find out much of anything but then we get smacked with MORE questions and again no answers....I'm starting to feel this series is worst than LOST with it reveal nothing about the plot line and make the reader/viewer more confused.I keep coming back because I really enjoy the art style..I love looking over the character...
The mysteries, shocks, twists and turns get a bit too much in this 'Truants' story arc. The more you learn, the more you that most of you presumptions were way off the mark! Lost in time and space the Glories come face to face with the Truants! 8 out of 12.
Absolutely one of my favourite reads for #GettingGraphic and it just reminded me of why I love comics and particularly this series so much. It's super wacky, there's time travel shenanigans, and there are some excellent pages of art. A really fab series, 4.5*s
This volume took the confusion to a whole new level. This volume concludes season 1 and questions were supposed to be answered, but all I got was new confusion. With the introduction of new characters things only started to get more messy. Suffice to say I didn't enjoy this volume as much as I did the previous ones.Full review coming soon!
I really need to just read these in a row. Actually, with how many characters and how much shit happens I might not understand what is happening ANYWAY. So is this one the cast of characters get larger. We find out they're on a mission to...kill the leader? Well kill the leader's son. But you're like "Wait I thought this was teenager story" and it is. But the adults do so much shady shit, that when the kids come in, and they shady, shit gets shadier...yeah. So everytime we get answer another que...
I really enjoyed this installment in the series. This is still ridiculously confusing but I feel like I am finally starting to get a couple of things so that was fun.I really enjoyed the addition of the Truants to the story.I continue to really enjoy the art, although in this installment I did struggle to differentiate between Akiko and Irina.I really hope we start to get some more answers soon.
"Questions are answered and new mysteries emerge as Season One comes to a shocking end!" - BESH WHEREEEE?? Picking up this comic book series was a mistake ugh. It's just like The Wicked + The Divine - amazing premise but as the series moves along ... you see there was no second thought behind anything.
Still so confused but still so addicted.
Count me among the frustrated. 25 issues in and still not a clue what is going on. This volume promises answers, but fails to deliver, turning the thing into a bit of a joke. There's a lot of Lost in this book, with extensive flashbacks that fail to illuminate present events. When I first started reading this, I was pulled in by the mysterious aspects of what this academy is really all about, but it's wearing thin now. Plus, the art is such that the characters tend to blur together (even with pi...
I continue to be utterly enamored, amazed, confused and blown away by this series. It's like Lost meets Fringe meets every time traveling, time-effecting show/story meets every single group of confused, scatted kids with secrets. I read Vol. 3 & Vol. 4 together right back to back so they are getting one big review together, because pretty much the storyline is all blurred together now. I have so many feelings about Abraham & Ike reveals, plus Abraham vs. The Academy (and the fact there are kids
Introduction: After reading the previous three volumes of Nick Spencer’s “Morning Glories” series, I was surprised to find myself actually wanting to read more adventures from the Morning Glories students and I finally managed to pick up the fourth volume “Morning Glories: Truants,” which introduces the next generation of the Morning Glories students! What is this story about? After the events that happened in the third volume, the Morning Glory students find themselves face to face with
