The story is about a donkey who always thought his voice was not beautiful, so he never sang, although everyone else did: the birds, the roosters and even the horses. One day he broke the silence, stopped being shy and sang. All around him were surprised and wondered what did he sing for: Fatigue, patience or strong hooves? Surprisingly he sang for rain. And suddenly the rain started to fall, and every one cheered and sang and danced with falling hail.

كان الجحشُ الصغيرُ يعتقد أن صوته قبيحٌ جداً، ولذلك لم يكن يغني بالرغم من أن جميع من حوله كانوا يفعلون، بمن فيهم العصافير والديوك والخيول وجميع الحيوانات الأخرى. لكنه في أحد الأيام كسر الصمت والخجل وغنى. عندئذ تفاجأ الجميع وتساءلوا: "هل سيغني عن التعب والصبر والحوافر القوية؟" إلا أنه غنى عن المطر. عندها فقط نزل المطر وفرح الجميع وغنوا ورقصوا مع حبات البرد الكبيرة.
