Completely hooked on a series that’s on indefinite hiatus. I need to know what happens!!! WHERE IS ELLE?
The relationships between a lot of the characters were a bit unclear, and a lot of the faces blended together. I got pretty lost and disinterested. I won't be continuing this series. The artwork was pretty, though.
Well, crap. I was enjoying watching this unfold, happy with the pace at which answers are being doled out. And then I looked to see when volume three might be coming out. Yeah, about that... I'm not sure if the series has been actually cancelled, effectively cancelled, or is just on hiatus, but volume three won't be coming for awhile, if ever. Which is a shame, because things were getting really interesting.
This is an interesting series, but as a warning, it was apparently abandoned after this volume. Sounded like it was a creator decision, but who knows. The artwork is beautiful, and the story entertaining, but if you don't like unfinished stories and aren't willing to come along for the ride, steer clear!
The plot thickens.... so the good news is we get some solid answers in this volume and some great backstory. The bad news is that now I have more questions because of those answers. McCann injected life into this book by introducing some WWII antics into the backstory of Elle, our main protagonist. And while in comics WWII stuff can be over used or over done, here it feels very interesting as its so far out of left field in this type of book. The book normally feels so modern and snappy, that de...
Talk about surprises: what started out as a supernatural-tinged mystery quickly becomes something else entirely and the readers are taken in unexpected directions. What seemed to be at the same time a whodunit and a conspiracy turns out to be neither ! More links & relationships between the characters are revealed, and we learn the identity of "The Fifth". We get a lot of information in the five issues collected here, but it never feels like an info dump. The reveals just incite further readi...
Still intrigued but losing interest fast.
More answers but more questions too, gah!
This comic series is fascinating, more science fiction than I was expecting -- and I love that. As always, this collection ends on a cliffhanger, and there's no guessing when Volume 4 will be out, if ever. But I sure hope there will be one. This story has a terrific mix of characters, relationships, and intrigue. Plus the artwork is terrific. I don't know if I should recommend this, because of the uncertainty of its continuation. But I've really enjoyed, and admire, these three collections.
It's good to be back, though I'm still a little shocked from the fact that it's the last volume.. only 2 issues away from the end.
It's been a few years since I read volume 2 and I've kind of forgot the characters. I remembered the jist of the storyline, so at least I didn't need to re-read the last two. From what I've read and that cliffhanger of an ending I'm giving this graphic novel a 3 star.Out of Bodies is about Elle and a secret condition/solution to the Peterssen family. Because this is the 3rd book I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just talk about the first book or volume. Elle Peterssen is sent to the hospita...
Well, it only took three volumes before the pieces started to form a comprehensible form; there's enough of the puzzle played out here that it makes the previous two volumes near required re-reading to understand how everything has fallen into place. Elle is doing new and unique things, and the reasons why she is so important, and how she got to be that way, all finally start to show up. There are still too many characters without enough differentiation to keep track of (especially if it's been
I like this, I wish there was more. I can't seem to find a definitive recent answer as to whether this is cancelled or on hiatus but I'm hoping they will pick this story up again!
While there is someone incredible in the flashbacks, it's also weird how much the "villain" seems to run from his past as he tries to achieve that which he renounces.
This is a strange series. It's not quite working for me (especially the dialogs are horrible at times), but it's still to interesting to completely give up on.
3.5 stars
It gets a little cliche (view spoiler)[Nazi scientists?? (hide spoiler)] to explain Elle's mysterious coma but IT ENDS ON A GIANT CLIFFHANGER AND ME WANTING MORE!3.5/5
Things start getting revealed and the action is getting heated up! I'm really enjoying this series, so I look forward to volume 4.
I am beyond annoyed that this series ended on a cliff hanger and that Act II never received a collection release. So I'll never know what happens next with Elle and Jairus. I did really enjoy this series though. It's a slow burn and you don't get a lot of answers but it's worth it to read. The art was beautiful and perfectly captured the trippy nature of this story. There isn't much on character development but I still found myself drawn into Elle's mystery. Here's hoping that someday I'll be ab...
This series loses me more and more with each volume. I wonder if it is actually going downhill or if it's just losing my interest? It started with an interesting idea that has quickly lost momentum in all of the puzzle pieces of plot. To credit the author, the reader does start to get some answers in this volume. Some of the more 'dark' characters even get some much needed depth. Other than that, things are at a decline. Some of the 'big reveals' are more puzzling than revealing, which is a bumm...
