Avengers Arena started out with the promise of bloodshed and violence amongst Marvel’s teen heroes in a Hunger Games-style setting, and that could’ve been an ok series - not great, but ok. Instead it’s been a total letdown as Dennis Hopeless opted instead to try and make readers care about these “characters” by portraying instead tedious teen drama with superpowers. I read the third and final volume only because I wanted to see if he’d at least kill off a bunch of characters and maybe even Arcad...

This series has received a mixed bag of reviews. Me? I thought it was pretty darn fun. I enjoyed the whole superhero hunger games thing going on, and it was rad to see some of my favorite peeps back from Runaways. Bottom line is that I enjoyed this enough that I am heading straight into the continuing series, Avengers Undercover. Stoked to see where they take the characters.

It's so important to me that a good story has consequences and this definitely has an impact. A little bit anti-climatic in the ending, and they could have done a better job exploring the consequences but I still love love loved this series.

The end really picked the pace up.

I take full responsibility for reading these out of order. The problem is, I don't care to go back and read the first ones because I know how it ends. I think my main reason why I didn't love this is because I'm not a big fan of the Battle Royale concept. A great conclusion to a great series. The action, drama, and emotion all runs high and the ending was perfect. The part about the adults not being too worries and so easily fooled is a little far-fetches. I thoroughly enjoyed Avengers Arena far more than I thought I would.

A satisfying conclusion to this limited series. Not only is it a great mash-up of the Marvel Universe and BATTLE ROYALE, but it introduced me to interesting characters that I've never heard of before.Also, seriously, we need more of the Bloodstone family Marvel, get on that yeah?

This is probably the worst volume in the series, but it had some fun moments. It all seemed to end far too quickly and conveniently, so I'm pretty underwhelmed overall. Still, this series is a decent, easy read. Nothing special, but it has its moments.

After 28+ days of psychological torture and murderous intent, the surviving kids finally find a way out of murder world. Once the wheels start turning towards the end of the road, the story flies towards its conclusion. With a few of the kids infiltrating Arcade's control center located underground, the variables become too unpredictable for Arcade to handle, and he loses control. Once Apex is defeated (because of course she is the secondary villain), the kids end up making a pact to never speak...

I read the comic books Avengers Arena #13-18 covered in this volume. This is, surprisingly one of the best Marvel NOW books and here it is already coming to an end. Some interesting and sometimes dark pages, but no real resolution, points towards a sequel series - Avengers Undercover, Volume 1: Descent :-) 7 out of 12.

I can't tell you how intense that ending was, and how much I'd be expecting just anything to happen. However, I ended up pretty pleased with how things turned out.
