Another book I started and finished ages ago and forgot to update here. This is an excellently presented anthology of Gothic cinema with lots of great still shots, movie posters, etc. Some of the entries are a little lightweight but I found them universally entertaining. It is particularly good for historical perspectives and would be ideal for an undergraduate looking for ideas for extra reading.
Whilst there are some essential pieces contained within, there are some instances of poor fact-checking (such as claiming The Lost Boys is set in Los Angeles), a tendency to conflate horror and the Gothic and attempts to claim a far too wide range of films as belonging to the Gothic genre (28 Days and Godzilla being two examples).
