Suzie and Jon enter a temporarily frozen world when they orgasm – and when they discover each other’s shared powers at a party, they hatch a plan to use their power against the villains of the 21st century: the banks! Fraction’s on fire with this comic and Zdarsky’s art is incredible. Sex Criminals is one of the best new titles of the year. Read the full review here!
she's a librarian obsessed with sex knowledge. interesting to see where this story leads.
Didn't enjoy the glorification of Lolita, or Nobakov.
(3.5/5 stars)The story lives up to the name right out of the gate: you see the police coming for Suzie and her boyfriend, and then they slip into a bathroom to bang.... But wait, let's rewind for context!I guess Fraction's thing is this whole in medias res setup. Which I'm cool with here, but I hope he doesn't do it every issue of this one. (I haven't picked up #2 yet, I hear it's hilarious, so on my list. I prefer whole volumes, though. ComiXology just had this issue up for free.)Anyway, this i...
My ratings: 4/5 | 8/10Very funny! This graphic novel will appear in my video "Small reviews - April" at the end of this month so keep an eye out if you're interested :))))
I'd recommend this trade paperback to first time comic readers who are apprehensive about reading comics in the first place. Most people think of comics as all superheroes and nerdiness. This comic has nothing to do with superheroes or anything of the sort. I'm a huge comic fan and NONE of them have anything to do with superheroes. That being said , I'd also recommend this for avid comic fans who are apprehensive about reading comics that are NOT superhero related. The storyline and idea of this...
This comic was fantastic! The concept raises an eyebrow at first, but once you start reading it you can't help but enjoy it...just like how everyone raises their eyebrows at the subject of sex, but we all do it and enjoy it, right? Sex, action, humor all combined with great art. What more could you want in a graphic novel? I'm hooked on this comic and can't wait to start the others.
Just WOW! Might be in the top ten of my favorite comic books ever and this is only the first issues. I am on board for the next one.
I don't normally read comics or graphic novels, but this was on my roommates shelf and he recommended this and some other comics, and I'm definitely glad I started with this.I'm still waiting for the next volume, but I absolutely loved this. And my immature dirty mind was definitely seduced by the title alone.
wait .... what??? look I'm not going to lie, if you gotta be a super hero... your power of super orgasm moonlight just might come in handy, at least against Batman. please, please tell me that's where this is going. Batman helpless to the super orgasm moonlit glow. Rated R your kids won't go blind if they see this, but you will have some questions to answers and hopes to dash if they get a hold of this. I mean it's called "Sex Criminals" use your better judgment. and if that don't work use mine
Umm....okay.
This first issue was a really good look at girls and sex - from the female pov.
4 Orgasmic-Stars! ☆☆☆☆I really liked it. It had drama, humor and D!CK! :) lol, yep. You see lots of f#%king in this comic. Suzie and Jon are perfect for one another. Jon seems like a guy's guy. Funny and laid back and he owns a very nice c#%k. ;)& Suzie is sweet and mature...to a degree. She has to deal with her dad being murdered, school, homework, friends and an alcoholic mother to top it off. I liked that the moment Suzie met Jon, she seemed smitten. (That whole love at 1st sight stuff) :) i
This is soo good. Witty. Creative. Funny as hell. Unique. Addicting.
Loved this. Great story, both provocative and funny, and very real about the difficulties many of us faced in finding out about sex and our bodies, and real about adult sex (that it can be hot, and awkward, and funny, and emotional, and casual -- all at the same time). Except for the supernatural element, relatable A.F.
THIS is how you add sex in comic books. The vast majority of this issue is all building character. It's 'present day' Suzie narrating her life. The death of her father, the anger she has towards her mother and the most important aspect of this story...sex. Not only her discovering sex at a young age (and how nobody will answer her questions properly, without being made to feel like an outsider or a freak) but also her power through orgasm.Genius concept, well written and a great set of characters...
3.5Very interesting story. A++ for the sex positive female character, and for the teenagers figuring out their sexuality, how the story shows how hard it is because of the lack of resources and help. Read the two issues back to back and together I give them 4 stars. Can't wait to see what's next. (Also I have a new otp ha).(Read on Nov 9th, 2013)-------------------------------------------------------------------------*Re-read August 2014. Bumped to 4 stars. Love the art + writing.
Imagine of the first time you found pleasure with yourself you found a special power. A power to stop time. Awesome right ? Well she practices through her teen years and moves into adulthood with the job and such. The job sets her up to meet somebody who has the same ability. How could they not fall for each other ? They also decide to use the gift for a little criminal activity. So who are you going to call to stop this ? The Sex Police ! Yes, they exist and they are going to stop this lusty pa...
"SUZIE DOWN IN THE QUIET" Great opener. Nothing to kick off an NSFW comic like a sex scene in a bathroom. Then it goes downhill from there, when the comic goes into flashback/backstory mode by showing how it all started. First off, no surprises there-- a female character, written by two males, chances are it isn't going to stick. This one was flat. From the death of the Father, the drifting apart with the mother, her "first time", all of it, it reads with a little hint of trying to hard, I mean
I was expecting a humorous Bonnie and Clyde and that's not really what I got, at least not in this first issue. Still, I found this introduction to the series to be very entertaining. First, let me start by saying that yes, as the title and cover suggest this book has mature content. Nothing that I would consider pornographic or gratuitous but not for those who are easily offended. This was humorous but it was also more than that. The character development of Suzie was surprisingly deep and ende...
