This is a small novella that is included as part of the collection: Shards and Ashes. My review was given on the collection as a whole so it can be found there instead.
Such a great short story about Orion, picking out his name, taking over being Recorder, and yeah, it was really creepy but good!
While this novella tells the the story of Orion, the way he hid from Eldest and how he became the Recoder, I don't think that it's a must-read. The original series is great as it is and gives all the answers, but the true fans would certainly find this short addition interesting.
"But I realized soon enough that asking questions was the worst possible thing I could ever do.I did it anyways."I'm so in love with across the universe's characters but I will always have a hate-love relationship with Orion. I guess I understand why he did everything, and that's frustrating. This was really beautiful and sad :(
This was okay. I didn't really feel like it was necessary to the overall story but I did enjoy reading a bit more about Orion's background and how he became what he became. This offered a bit of insight, still don't like his character though.
I wish she'd do a prequel series about Orion, this was great, I loved it!
This is story had so much potential that I feel it should've been much longer. The name choosing of Orion and how he becomes the Recorder and how he kept doubting himself over his thoughts about revolution and We learn the circumstances under which Orion meets Mags and then they become involved in a romantic relationship, but it would have been nice if their relationship had been more fleshed out and how he CHOOSE not to love her. It really broke my heart. I liked Mag a lot, she was just so rebe...
rating: 2.75/5It explains some, but I feel it went over a lot of things so fast that you can't feel connected with the two characters. I feel that there should have been more for us to understand more.
wow.
I'll take anything about Beth Revis. Yes.By this time I'm surviving thanks to short beth revis stories...I really-really-need a new book of her.You can read this short story for free from Beth's wattpad page! Go! NOW!
Just a few pages allows you to look deeper on what Orion had to do to survive and plans for the future on the ship along with Mag. It's been a while since I read the series so I'm not sure where Mag fits in along with her grandfather and the Doc but it was still great to read a little more about the space journey.
Man, I miss this series. Kinda want to re-read. Orion was one of my favourite characters.
A surprisingly enjoyable and interesting novella that added depth to a character I was already intrigued by.
https://www.wattpad.com/story/1441881...Forgot that I read this as part of Shards and Ashes in 2013! I did just re-read it because I didn't remember it. ;) But I really liked it! Makes me want to re-read the trilogy! I loved this trilogy!!
I did wonder what Orion did to the last recorder. It was cool getting this bit of information in the form of a short story.
I enjoyed learning more about Orion's personality and reasoning. He's a protagonist that never felt like a villain but who certainly wasn't meant to be a hero either. He never cared about that. He did questionable things but for understandable reasons, that's what I find interesting with this character. I wish we had more scenes with Amy and Elder from his POV.
I thought it was a very good novella. I was however not convinced this was the reason for Orion's plan. It never really explained Orion's feelings after big things happened and went straight into what he does without explaining. Exp: (view spoiler)[ Orion figures out Mag shut off the Phylus (I forget the name) and it never says if he's angry and then BAM oh yeah I poisoned you. (hide spoiler)] I wish we got more of Mag before she got political and I think she was smarter than her later actions
Loved this, makes me miss the world of Godspeed. I just wish I would have read it closer to when I read the series because I have forgoten a lot. Great to read a story about a side character that has a very interesting past only slightly touched on in the core books.
Not bad. I can't really remember much from the first book, so I don't know if I liked Orion there but he was okay here.
It doesn't really add much to the story, but it's an interesting enough look at Orion's past.
