Glad this one is doneThis book made me feel dirty and less than an honorable person. I'm not a fan of books that take you back in History and then back to present day and the characters thoughts carry you back and forth to tell the story. Characters are rich and vibrant and the plot is intriguing but often times vague. Glad to have finished this one.
Reading this book is like driving a car stuck in first gear - it goes but never gets up to speed. In fact, I found the story so dam boring I couldn’t be bothered to finish the book. Very disappointing given the success of Three Days of the Condor. I see James Grady as a one hit wonder.
I found it a little confusing, the story moving between three characters. However, it was interesting and showed a lot of behind the scenes workings of the CIA, the concern for being reported on, the fear of secrets being revealed and the paranoia that results.I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in the Vietnam era time frame, the CIA overt operations, or a really good read, but be prepared to pay attention to what is going on!
