Chief Page

Chief Page

Michael Ellis
4.4/5 ( ratings)
A U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer encounters danger, embraces adventure, engages in fraternizing romances, defies his chain-of-command at the risk of his navy career, and investigates espionage activities surrounding the death of a navy woman who was a past lover.

This cold war adventure unfolds against the aftermath of the tumultuous Admiral Zumwalt years and the aftermath of the divisive Vietnam War. While the navy downsizes and while navy policy makers continuously argue the regulation length of hair and while local commands issue personnel policy from command human relations. the Soviets and the Chinese continue to build their military forces and plan the destruction of Western Civilization. However, Chief Page refuses to be distracted by the constant barrage of nonsensical and insignificant personnel policies that occupy the time of the top brass. Chief Page commits to focusing on command missions and to fighting the evil that threatens the American way of life, even at the risk of his navy career.

The "Rigney Page" Cold War navy adventure series was written in the following order:
1 - Apollo Rises : "Evolution of a Patriot"
2 - Nea Makri
3 - Chief Page
4 - The Bonifacio Strait

Reader Reviews:

"Excellent to the max! Although fiction, this book should be required reading by all officers and enlisted men. Not only in the USN but the other branches also." - Ron Schwab, RMCS, USN Ret.

"Mr. Ellis has once again written a suspenseful, page-turner spy story. An intricate plot, Mr. Ellis has put enough real fabric in his characters to make them believable. He effectively uses details to allow the reader to visualize himself in the scenes as they unfold. Mr. Ellis has succinctly captured the essence of the U.S. Navy in its transition after the Vietnam War. Great reading! I thoroughly enjoyed the story - flashbacks and all!" - Al Albers, USN Retired

"Young, hard-charging Navy Chief on a Mission! WOW!! I got this book in the mail on Saturday, Jan 2nd and finished it Monday night! I could not put it down! Mr. Ellis hooked me in from the very beginning of the book. Anyway, if you have already read the two previous Rigney Page adventures, this is a must read third book in the series. It has everything in the first two and more. Excellent read, as you can tell! Only took me 2-3 days to finish it, even though it is 554 pages. It draws you in and keeps you going! It left me eager for the next adventure of Chief Page! Once again, as a retired Navy submarine Radioman myself, this book took me back to many enjoyable times I experienced in the 60's, 70's myself. Mr. Ellis has a keen eye for accuracy and a wealth of historical background material at his disposal. This provides a very realistic foundation for his novels." - B. King, USN Ret.
