Obviously not a masterpiece like the Art of Racing in the Rain, but quite good, and I really like the drawings.
The Art of Racing in the Rain is my favourite contemporary book, and the most heartbreaking thing I've ever experienced. Here is a less painful part of Enzo's life done in the form of a children's storybook, with a super adorable cover to display on a shelf. I am not too old for this. I can see kids reading this as children then just being completely crushed when they read the grown-up version.
The kid liked it, I was not impressed. These people should not have adopted a dog.
Book 67 of 2022Super cute picture book for little readers in the spirit of The Art of Racing in the Rain. I saw this one FOREVER ago at a Target and sent a snap to my friend who has a little Enzo. Then inherited the novel from a different friend right before COVID. Just watched the movie with my family a few weeks back, and put two and two together that they're all the same franchise, and tracked this one down through ILL.
It stands to reason that I would love this picture book as I adored the novel it is based on. Gorgeous feel good story
I really, really loved The Art of Racing in the Rain - to the point where I have bought it for half my friends, even those who are not avid readers, for one holiday or another, and I have lent it out enough times (and not received it back :/) that I am on my third or fourth print copy AND I own in on kindle. The book moved me and I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up, unabashedly crying on an airplane full of strangers as I finished it.SO! When I saw this, I just had to give it a...
A child-ized version of "The Art of Racing in the Rain." It tells the story of a puppy born on a farm that is chosen by Zoe and her race car driving dad. This puppy will not stop running everywhere so they name him after race car driver Enzo Ferrari. When they get the puppy home he promptly escapes from the back yard to chase cars. Enzo eventually finds his way home. The adapted story seemed overly wordy and not strong on story. Not my favorite picture-book version of an adult book. Leaves much t...
Bookaday #13. Was worried about this one, that it would do justice to the beloved novel The Art of Racing in the Rain. Unfortunately it is just okay.
A cute addition to the Art of Racing in the Rain family of books from Garth Stein, Enzo Races in the Rain! tells the story of Enzo's coming into Denny's life, but told for a much younger audience, this time as a picture book. The Art of the Racing in the Rain is one of my favorite books, and with this picture book, Stein introduces Enzo to an entirely new audience, yet he stills keeps Enzo's basic character and sense of self intact. Here, Enzo discovers his love of speed (a theme that continues
I love Enzo! The author has done a great job of capturing the essence of this dog. He's got a strong voice, and is just so much fun! The pictures are absolutely perfect, and there's just enough adventure to give us a thrill without scaring the little ones too terribly much. I want to read more Enzo books! This one is a new favorite. :)
I loved “Enzo Races in the Rain.” The illustrations are fun and the story is fleshed out enough that it will make a good story time choice or bedtime story for older kids. The illustrations will keep all but the youngest involved. It’s also nice to read about Enzo without sobbing at the end!
Sweet story about a dog that likes to run and the little girl who adopts him.
Garth Stein was at the South Dakota Festival of Books in September 2015, and couldn't have been any nicer. Sometimes it is a disappointment to meet an author whose work I have enjoyed; but Garth's presentations were excellent, and in spite of a long travel schedule, he was delightfully friendly. I am looking forward to his newsletter emails. A heartwarming story about the character Enzo I have loved for many years. Can't wait to share it with my granddaughter.
