This was much more interesting than I expected
I was completely taken by the voice of this book. Read it in one sitting, loved it, recommend it to people who like unusual female protagonist in search of their identity with a detective story twist.

I enjoyed this book. It was quite amusing at times, but also much darker than I was expecting. Really this is about the two main characters and their lives and the decisions they need to make about their futures.
Interesting characters, both provided with enlightening viewpoint chapters, in a suspense mystery set in a moody seaside town; while it provides a solid and creepy investigation, the sense it's descending into parody isn't borne out by a lacklustre ending.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although I have to say it took quite a few pages before I realised it. The plot, revolving around two bored RAF wives with numerous problems, sees them attempting to become amateur detectives to investigate a suicide in a small seaside town. The story is heavily populated with grotesque characters and there is plenty of black humour to be found.
